The Chengdu Chongzhou City's joint investigation working group has announced that Mr. Tang, the owner of the black Rottweiler, was taken into custody by legal means on December 17th at around 3:00 p.m. The investigation working group commenced criminal proceedings against him for his breach of several factual violations.
The incident has sparked a range of reactions from the public, with many expressing anger towards irresponsible dog owners who fail to control their pets. Several comments suggest that larger dogs should be kept on leashes, regardless of whether they are vaccinated or not, in order to minimize the risk of harm to others.
One Weibo user shared a post expressing empathy for the injured girl and calling for more stringent pet regulations: "I am also a dog lover, but I get angry when I see large dogs without leashes. The owner is completely responsible! And I really hope that owners of large breeds can be controlled too! It's still quite dangerous!"
Another Weibo user questioned the relevance of the rabies vaccination status, stating: "The fact it has been vaccinated does not mean it won't bite people. What about the physical injuries? How can you bite others after being vaccinated?" This sentiment was echoed by another user who argued, "So what if you get hit? Even in such a case, there is a relatively high probability that his right kidney will be lost."
On the other hand, some netizens expressed concern about the general safety risks posed by large dogs, especially when they are not properly controlled. One user shared a Weibo post saying: "Once in Cuba, the company canteen raised a Rottweiler that was very big. Every time it charged at me, I could die, and when we got along, I could feel that it wasn't a gentle dog."
Other users highlighted the potential dangers posed by large dogs, even those with seemingly well-behaved owners: "The correct way to open a Rottweiler, but still some netizens think that this fierce dog should be banned. How do you see it?"
One Weibo user shared a video of a Rottweiler wearing a mask and suggested vaccines can prevent dogs from biting others: "Do vaccines prevent a person from being bitten or from biting others?", indicating that the dog's vaccination status was not relevant to the incident
