Beijing, January 9th (Reporter Wang Xiaozheng) - The upcoming Taiwanese elections have caused a stir in both Taiwan and China. Citing the comments made by the Taiwanese Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) candidate, Lenny Lee, who claimed that China is using all means to interfere in the elections, Mao responded that China has a responsibility to safeguard its territorial integrity and sovereignty. Mao further emphasized that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are of the same blood and share a common destiny, adding, "We hope that the relevant parties in Taiwan can recognize the situation and act in line with the overall interests."

This response from the Chinese Foreign Ministry has led to heated discussions on social media platforms, such as Weibo. On January 9, Weibo users posted images of a futuristic and modern poster with a large red circle and a small red dot in the center. The poster, which contains Asian characters, has raised questions about the connection between this image and the ongoing Taiwanese elections.

One Weibo user, CACTA, questioned, "Is this poster related to the call to ban the import of Japanese seafood products due to the Fukushima nuclear accident?" Another user, NETZEN, replied, "I believe it is more closely connected to the Taiwan elections."

Meanwhile, the Chinese internet community has also been discussing the potential for foreign interference in the Taiwanese elections, with many users expressing their concerns and offering suggestions. One user, JAY, suggested that the Chinese government should closely monitor any potential meddling and respond accordingly. Another user, DAN, echoed these concerns, stating that any interference should be dealt with firmly.

In response to this ongoing debate, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao emphasized that China has always respected the internal affairs of other countries and that the country's stance on the Taiwan issue has been consistent and clear. Mao called on all sides involved to work together to maintain peace and stability in the region.

As the Taiwanese elections draw near, the Chinese government's message is clear: Taiwan is an inalienable part of China and the country has a responsibility to safeguard its territorial integrity and sovereignty. With the social media discussions in full swing, it remains to be seen how the Taiwanese elections will unfold, and what impact foreign interference may have on the outcome.
