The saga of Chinese Olympic gold medalist, Yang Qian's, coach has become a hot topic on China's Weibo social media platform. Coach Yu Lihua took to the internet to express his frustration in a heartfelt post, claiming he has not been paid his Paris Olympic bonus. Moreover, it appears that the coach is the only Olympic coach who has not been awarded a bonus for his work, with the Chinese government allegedly keeping the funds.

In his Weibo post, Yu Lihua said that since Yang Qian's victory at the Tokyo Olympics, the athletes who were awarded bonuses have been primarily officials within the Chinese sports administration, and that he has not received his rightful compensation. In addition, he states that he has been informed that the bonus will not be paid due to a dispute with the Chinese government.

In response to the allegations, some netizens voiced their support for the coach, with one user stating "It's sad to see a coach who produces Olympic champions but can't receive their bonuses. Sports officials take advantage of their power and use it to harm others," while another Weibo user opined, "It is an injustice that this coach who trains athletes has not received any reward."

In response to the controversy, a spokesperson from the Chinese Sports Administration said, "It is currently under review," but refused to provide further comment.

The coach's allegations have caused an uproar on Weibo, with users questioning why the Chinese sports administration would withhold the bonus from someone who is doing such an important job. "Are you using the money to build a luxurious building for Olympic athletes where you will live?" one user asked, while another implored: "Give the coach his well-deserved bonus, it's not right."

The recent revelations have sparked discussions about the Chinese government's treatment of its sports officials and athletes. Yu Lihua's story serves as yet another stark reminder of how the government's favoritism may have contributed to the current state of China's sports system.

Although there has been no official acknowledgment from the Chinese government regarding the coach's allegations, it is clear that the issue has struck a chord with Weibo users, who are rallying behind the coach in his fight for justice.
