Chongqing, in southwest China's Sichuan province, has seen a significant increase in the number of villagers who have started shopping for crab-related products and ingredients after harvesting the crustaceans. In the markets, people are witnessing an increase in demand for such products, with the prices for them being quite high, as reported by local media.

The province is noted for its wide variety of crustaceans, including the crab. Given this, many locals have started buying crab meat, seafood, and other related items. For instance, some residents have purchased crab shell powder which they plan to mix with honey to make a special type of juice, while others are opting for incorporating crab into traditional dishes.

Regarding the prices of such goods, one woman from Chongqing told local media, "the prices for crab meat and shell powder have risen sharply this year. The priciest crab meat is now going for 100 yuan ($14.50) per kilogram, while the powder is being sold at around 20 yuan ($2.90)."

Meanwhile, online discussions around the situation have also emerged on Chinese social media platform Weibo. In one post, a user wrote about the price rise saying, "it's been cheaper for the last three years, but now it's become more expensive in order to attract more people to buy it."

Another local, who has been in the business since 1972, shared his thoughts on the matter, saying, "the price has been going up every year, especially during harvest seasons when more people go crabbing."

In conclusion, the demand for crab-related products appears to be rising in Sichuan province, especially after the harvesting season. Many residents are now eager to try their hand at making crab dishes and incorporating the crustacean into their diets.
