On February 8, at approximately 11:50 AM, a devastating mountain landslide occurred in Jinping Village, Mayi Town, Yunlian County, Yibin City, in the southwestern province of Sichuan, China. The disaster resulted in the burial of multiple residential houses and the entrapment of numerous individuals. As of 5:00 PM on the same day, official reports confirmed that 10 households had been buried under the debris, with more than 30 people reported missing.

The emergency response was swift, with the Ministry of Emergency Management activating a Level 3 emergency response for geological disasters and the National Committee for Disaster Reduction and Relief initiating a Level 4 rescue response. A rescue team comprising 345 personnel, 101 vehicles, and 8 canines from the national comprehensive firefighting and rescue team, along with 26 personnel and 4 vehicles equipped with 54 sets of equipment from the Sichuan Coal Mine Emergency Rescue Team, and 45 personnel with 22 sets of equipment from the China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group, were dispatched to the scene to conduct rescue operations.
As of 5 pm on February 8, the rescue efforts have successfully saved 2 individuals, who are currently reported to be in stable condition without any life-threatening injuries. The rescue operation is ongoing, with multiple agencies and teams working together to locate and rescue those still trapped. The Chinese government has dispatched a significant number of personnel and equipment to the scene, including 345 firefighters, 101 vehicles, and 8 search dogs.
