On 13 July, during the journey, the captain made an announcement requesting an emergency landing at Kunming Changshui International Airport due to a male passenger suffering from a sudden illness.

The quick-thinking crew chief noticed the abnormality and reported it to the captain, who also benefited from the presence of an experienced doctor on board. The decision was made based on the fact that it would take 3 hours and 30 minutes to fly to Beijing, whereas landing in Kunming would only take 30 minutes.
