According to eye witness accounts and online reports, the accident occurred on August 17th at around 8:35 am, when a woman surnamed Wang, driving a BMW, sped through the crowded street, knocking down pedestrians and crashing into a breakfast shop. The driver, who has been detained by the police, allegedly mistook the accelerator for the brake, causing the vehicle to lose control.
The accident sent shockwaves through the community, with many taking to social media to express their outrage and sadness. One user, @wangxiaoming123, wrote, "What's wrong with these female drivers? Can't they even tell the difference between the accelerator and the brake?" Another user, @xiaoming888, chimed in, "I've always said, women shouldn't be allowed to drive. They're just too careless."

However, many others were quick to point out the unfair generalization and bias in these comments. @ nicole12345678 wrote, "Why do people always have to blame women drivers? What about all the careless male drivers out there? Both men and women can make mistakes, let's not be so quick to judge." Another user, @im-a-voter, added, "If we really want to talk about driving safety, we should be discussing how to improve the driving test system, not making sexist remarks."
According to reports, the injured have been hospitalized and are receiving treatment, while the driver, Wang, has been detained by the police. The cause of the accident has been attributed to the driver's error, with initial investigations ruling out drunk or drugged driving.
One of the injured individuals' relatives, a woman surnamed Tang, spoke to Dazhou News, recounting the terrifying scene. "The town was bustling with people as it was market day. The BMW sped through the crowd, knocking down pedestrians and crashing into a breakfast shop. One of the food stalls was also destroyed." Tang added that her two relatives, both in their 50s, had just crossed the road when they were hit by the car and were among the seriously injured.

The hospital where the injured are being treated released a statement assuring the public that they were providing emergency care and necessary treatment to the victims.
The incident has sparked a heated debate online, with many calling for improved road safety measures and better driving education, while others continue to perpetuate sexist stereotypes and biases.
As the investigation continues, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the potential consequences of reckless behavior on the road.
