On Weibo, China's version of Twitter, netizens have been abuzz with reactions, ranging from support to skepticism. Many fans expressed understanding and support for Chen Meng, wishing her a good rest and looking forward to seeing her at the next tournament. One user, @陈梦-乒乓球Strawberry·陈梦, shared a video of Chen's victory at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, captioning it "Recalling the moment of victory".
However, not all reactions were positive. Some users questioned the reasons behind Chen's withdrawal, with one user commenting, "When Chen Meng participates and wins, you praise her for being a good chef (implying she is skilled). When she participates but loses, you tell her to retire. And when she withdraws, you ask if she's afraid of losing?" The user accused others of being overly critical and demanding of Chen.

Another user chimed in, saying, "It seems like Chen Meng can't win either way. If she plays, she's expected to win, and if she doesn't play, she's criticized for being afraid." The user also referenced Chen's Olympic victories, reminding others that they should respect her achievements and not meddle in her affairs.
A different user took a more dramatic tone, writing, "This is like a romance novel. When Chen Meng is playing, you praise her. When she's not playing, you scold her. What's going on?"

Other users shared their disappointment and frustration with the withdrawal, expressing their hope that the players would reconsider or that alternative arrangements could be made. One user jokingly asked if the players were "afraid of losing" and advised them to "hide and cultivate" their skills instead.
As the news continues to unfold, fans are eagerly awaiting further updates on the WTT Macau Championship and the participating athletes. The championship is set to take place at the East Asian Games Dome in Macau, with the winner receiving 1000 points towards their world ranking.

Despite the initial shock, many netizens remain optimistic, looking forward to the exciting competition that is expected to take place. The WTT Macau Championship promises to be an action-packed event, with top athletes from around the world vying for the top prize. As one user aptly put it, "This is turning out to be quite the drama."
