Chinese actor and singer Xiao Zhan has touched down in Milan to attend Milan Fashion Week, which kicked off on February 23rd. However, his arrival was not smooth sailing, as he faced a chaotic fan frenzy at the airport, despite pleas from his management for privacy.
Xiao Zhan, or XZ, is a popular figure in China, amassing a large fan base who closely follow his every move. His management team, Beats Studio, issued a statement on February 24th, requesting fans to refrain from tracking the actor or disrupting his work schedule. The statement read, “We refuse any non-public events and do not condone any behavior that disrupts public order or work environment. We oppose any form of intrusion.”
Despite this stern warning, fans swarmed Milan's Malpensa Airport on February 25th to catch a glimpse of their idol. Images and videos circulating on Chinese social media show XZ attempting to navigate his way through the throng of fans while maintaining a professional demeanor. In one video, the actor can be seen raising his voice to maintain order, asking fans to observe decorum and maintain public order.
Once XZ arrived at his hotel, fans continued to swarm the premises, prompting the actor to take to social media and express his frustration. In a now-deleted Weibo post, XZ wrote, “I’m grateful for all the love and support, but please respect my privacy and my work. I'm here to attend Fashion Week and represent my country, not to accommodate fans.”
XZ’s Milan Fashion Week appearance marks a significant milestone in his career, as he is slated to attend shows for two major luxury brands – Gucci and Tod’s. His management team confirmed that he will be attending the Gucci show on February 23rd and the Tod’s show on February 25th.
XZ’s dedication to public welfare has won him many fans in China. In 2021, he was appointed as the ambassador for a public welfare project for the Hangzhou Asian Games, where he actively participated in various initiatives. His fan group, known as the Little Falconer, has been actively involved in public welfare activities, with their initiatives spanning across 32 cities in China.
XZ's passion for public welfare was evident when he performed the song "We Will All Go to a Better Future" 100 days before the Hangzhou Asian Games. It was a moving performance that left fans in awe of his dedication to creating a better future for society.
Fans have expressed their disappointment at the chaotic scenes at the airport, with many apologizing for the behavior of some fans who disregarded XZ's pleas for privacy. However, others defended their actions, stating that their love for the actor knows no bounds, and they only wanted to catch a glimpse of him.
The chaotic scenes at Milan's Malpensa Airport serve as a reminder of the power of fandom and the need for fans to respect an artist’s privacy. It also highlights the importance of mental health and work-life balance for actors like XZ, who are constantly under public scrutiny. Despite the chaos, XZ’s dedication to his craft and his commitment to public welfare remain unwavering, making him a shining example for fans and aspiring actors alike.
As XZ continues to shine on the international stage, it is hoped that fans will learn to respect his privacy and allow him the space to focus on his work, while the actor himself continues to inspire and uplift his fans through his actions both on and off the screen.
